BRODIE NAIRN AND NICHOLA BURNS MET EACH OTHER WHILE STUDYING AT GRAY'S SCHOOL OF ART IN ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND. THEY THEN WENT ON TO STUDY GLASS AT THE INTERNATIONAL GLASS CENTRE, BRIERLEY HILL, ENGLAND. AFTER THEIR STUDIES THEY BOTH PURSUED THEIR PASSION FOR GLASS BY TAKING UP APPRENTICESHIPS WITH SOME OF THE LEADING CONTEMPORARY GLASS ARTISTS IN EUROPE AND THE U.S.
BRODIE AND NICKY HAVE ALREADY ESTABLISHED NAMES FOR THEMSELVES AS INDEPENDENT GLASS ARTISTS WHILE LIVING IN EUROPE. THEY HAVE TWO VERY DIFFERENT STYLES: BRODIE WITH HIS MINIMAL SENSUOUS FORMS AND NICKY WITH HER ENERGETIC AND EXUBERANT SCULPTURAL WORKS.
IN 2005 THEY SET-UP THEIR STUDIO WITH A SMALL GALLERY IN THE PRETTY HISTORICAL TOWN OF TAIN IN THE NORTH EAST HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND.
BRODIE AND NICKY HAVE TWO CHILDREN RUBY AND ANGUS. RUBY WOULD LIKE TO BE A GLASS DESIGNER WHEN SHE IS OLDER AND ANGUS A GLASSBLOWER….HANDY!
